Today, I am on my way down to see a show in town with a friend.  On my way I am going to visit a friend’s old boyfriend that is in the hospital with kidney failure.  I have some words of advice for him.

General Advice

I really don’t know the man that well but I do believe that I can offer some sort of comfort and advice to him about being thrown down this rabbit hole.  Of course having kidney failure is different than breast cancer; but the immediate impact of any serious illness is shock and feeling like a deer in the headlights.

What will I say

I know practically nothing about kidneys other than they are essential and that they are the filters of our system.  However, I truly believe that it doesn’t matter what it is, the important aspect of this is to become your own advocate.  Today, I hope to be able to convince him to take his health into his hands, and to study everything he can about his condition so that he is questioning the doctors when they come in to see him.

Lack of Education

It almost seems to me that we are kept in the dark about our own bodies and health.  It’s like the AMA set the whole plot in motion years ago, equipping the doctors with information but not letting the general public know about it – therefore they become our necessary saviours. I call bullshit on this.  It has been evident to me throughout my journey that my well being has not been the most important thing to the doctors, but rather following protocol.  They looked at the tumour, not the person, or why the tumour got there to begin with.  We may have been raised to think if you get sick go to your doctor, but the truth is – get to know your own body – what the signals mean and try to live in balance with them.

Hardest Part

One of the hardest things for me throughout my journey has been learning the lie that society has cultivated.  Our medical system is not there to prevent or cure disease but rather to alleviate symptoms.  The Big Pharma industry is not interested in a cure, not only for cancer but for diabetes, MS, Parkinson’s, Alzhiemers, Lupus, Crohns, the list goes on. They are interested in the bottom line and we line up for their products because we have been brainwashed to think that we can find true health in a pill.  It was really hard for me to learn that the government and medical system wasn’t all I had been foolishly led to believe.

Being Your Strongest Ally

Don’t get me wrong here, I believe that there are many medical wonders that are possible today because of medical research and technology.  Medicine works great in emergency situations, there is no doubt.  But somehow our medical system has been hijacked by Big Pharma and because of this it’s hijacking our health.  Sure there are some great pharmacueticals out there, I’m sure, but there’s also great botanicals out there that you never hear about.  Our gov’t lobbies with the dairy board, the meat board, the wheat board, the corn board.  They allow GMO’s into our food system.  It’s all political and driven by greed and profit.  Because of this it’s time to wake up and really take your health into your own hands.  Listen to the doctors, take their advice sure, but do your research, look far and wide and make yourself your biggest ally in being the CEO of your own body.
